Active ingredient Deltamethrin
The active ingredient, Deltamethrin, is gradually released from the collar. The active ingredient is then transferred from the surface of the belt to the fat layer of the skin and to the animal's hair. Deltamethrin is fat-soluble, so it spreads through the fat layer of the skin and forms a protective film all over the body. The active substance continues to move from the surface of the collar to the fat layer of the skin during the entire duration of the collar's action.
Deltamethrin is a second generation pyrethroid, a synthetic enhanced version of pyrethroids originally derived from the Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium plant. Deltamethrin is toxic to the nervous systems of arachnids and insects including ticks, fleas and sand flies. Deltamethrin is absorbed through the external skeleton of the insect, penetrates the nervous system and increases the sodium permeability of the nerve membranes. This causes overstimulation and hyperactivity, also known as the "knock-down" effect. The parasite quickly becomes paralyzed, exhibits uncontrolled movements, and then dies.
Deltamethrin is less toxic to mammals than to insects because the sodium channels of mammalian nerve membranes are much less sensitive to pyrethroids. In addition, pyrethroids that are eventually absorbed into the body by mammals are rapidly metabolized to a non-toxic form.
Deltamethrin works non-systemically, meaning it is not absorbed into the animal's bloodstream.

| Directions for use | Do not remove the collar from the protective sachet until just before application. Fit the collar around the pet's neck neither too loosely nor too tight: keep two flat fingers space between the collar and the dog's neck. Trim off the excess of the strap (approx. 5cm past the buckle). Periodically check that the strap is not too tight or too loose and adjust the length if necessary by squeezing the buckle and sliding the strap into position. |
